The Truth is out there and Josh Gates is going to find it.

After reading The X-Files article, I was inspired by the idea of the search for the truth and thought to bring up a paranormal documentary television show that is well worth checking out.

Being an avid fan of the Sci Fi channel series Ghost Huntersit was hard to miss the show advertised for the following time slot, Destination Truth. The show documents host Josh Gates as he searches the lesser-known places of the earth for evidence relating to world famous and local legends. From the Chilean Chupacabra to the Mongolian Death Worm, Gates and his team of people, and their high tech equipment, go marching through jungles in search of the truth.

Initially I had very little interest in the show. The actual content wasn’t something I wanted to learn about and documentary/reality TV has constantly disappointed me. It was when Josh Gates guest hosted on this years Halloween edition of Ghost Hunters and guest investigated on an episode of Ghost Hunters International that I was really interested in watching the show and the reason I’m highly recommending it to everyone in the class. Josh Gates fabulously hilarious. I tuned in for an episode with my cousin and not only did we learn some interesting facts about the South African Tokeloshe, like its diet of choice: sour milk, but were highly entertained throughout the entirety of the show. Gates’ personality makes a great television show out of something that could have been dreadfully boring. His humor, persistence with the locals, and for merit of the show, thoroughness of his investigations, lead the audience on a grand adventure through countries I doubt anyone will be visiting any time soon.

Recently the show made a huge break through regarding the Yeti legend. Gates and his team found large unexplainable footprints in the wilderness of Katmandu. Brief, but national coverage was given to the find, this being one of the many articles covering the discovery. However, Gates is not quick to jump to conclusions, he admits that they found something, but as to whether or not it is an actual Yeti print, he believes is inconclusive.

Destination Truth is a great show to sit down and enjoy. It asks the audience to really wonder if these legends could really exist in these unexplored territories. Even if you aren’t interested in learning about Cambodia’s Wild Man on this week’s upcoming episode, Gates himself is well worth tuning in for. The show airs Wednesdays at 10pm on the Sci Fi channel.
